FAQ

AM I TOO SMALL / TOO BIG TO STAND UP PADDLE ?

Stand Up Paddle works for all size people.  Obviously bigger people may need a bigger board, and smaller people may have more fun on a smaller board to suit their size. Thats why it makes sense to let us put you on a board that will work for you in local conditions.

AM I TOO OLD /  TOO YOUNG TO STAND UP PADDLE ?

SUP is fun for all ages. Our clients so far have spanned the ages of 7 to 72, and there are people still surfing into their 80's. If you    are worried about pre existing medical conditions, check with your Doctor. Remember SUP is only as strenuous as YOU want to make it. Paddle to relax and de stress, or, paddle for strength, endurance and fitness.  Get it right first…Book a lesson.

DO I NEED TO BE ABLE TO SWIM FIRST ?

Definately learn to swim first. Even in a "life jacket" or PFD, you can still get into trouble in the water if you are not a swimmer.

WHAT ABOUT CROCODILES & SHARKS ?

They all may be found in the ocean in our region, but just like swimming at Bondi or Cottesloe you are very unlikely to be in the same place at the same time as a croc or a shark and even less likely to be attacked.

WHAT ABOUT BOX JELLYFISH.

In the wet season (October to May ) box jellyfish are frequently in local waters.  Don't go in without a stinger suit and surf/dive boots. Jelly's can be difficult to see, so don't gamble...wear the right gear to enjoy the ocean all year round. We have suits and boots in stock all year round.

I'M NERVOUS ABOUT GOING OUT ALONE.

It make good sense to paddle with others. We have paddle sessions several times a week. Just email and ask to be added to the email list, to get mailouts advising days and tides. There is no charge to join in on your own gear. Frequently paddle days turn into a   social event as well.
